Route

Turn right out of Ilkley station, and go straight ahead, along Church Street, until it curves down to join the A65.   Turn left and follow the A65 (very busy) for about 2 miles, and bear left; you now have a steep climb over Addingham Moor.

To follow the WYCR, take a left at the second cross-roads (after about 2.5 miles) to climb and skirt the moor.   Then you have a steep descent, with a left-right dogleg, to join the A6034 at the top of Silsden.   Turn left, and the A6034 will take you through the village and across the River Wharfe, to a roundabout on the A629 Keighley-Skipton Road.

Go straight ahead - across the railway, and into the village of Steeton.   Turn right, and almost immediately left (at the Post Office) into Mill Lane.   When you reach High Street, a right turn and immediate left takes you the foot of perhaps 2 miles of steep climb (and a well-deserved rest by Redcar Tarn?). Alternatively, you could take the easy way to an even better rest?   Look at the diversions below.

At the tarn, turn right into Tarn Lane.   Just before it bends to the right, turn left into a lane to Laycock, where you turn right.   Follow the right hand bend round, and bear left, down to the stream and back up.   Turn right, up the steep hill; the route goes up one side of the valley, and back down the other, until you come to a cemetery on your right.   Turn right here.

At the T-junction in Oakworth village, turn right - and follow the road up the side of the Worth Valley, until you can take a sharp left to double back and drop down to Ponden Reservoir.

Follow straight on, through Stanbury, until you turn into Haworth's main street.

For the station, at the bottom of Main Street take the road by the park which drops down to the railway bridge, then turn left.
