[From Fitzwilliam Station, cross the line, and turn left on to the (sometimes busy) B6273 to reach Hemsworth. When you reach the crossroads just after Hemsworth High School, you join the WYCR.]
Go straight ahead, through the town centre; you will reach a roundabout on the A628, which bypasses the town. Go straight ahead for another quarter mile.
Turn to the left, on to the South Elmsall, South Kirby and Upton (SESKU) ringway - established by local environmental grops on reclaimed mining land. Follow this through to a roundabout, and head straight across into and through the village of Upton. At a roundabout at the edge of Badsworth, turn right and continue through Thorpe Audlin.
Cross the A659, and head for Wentbridge, where you turn left. Just before this road joins the A1, bear left, then continue straight ahead until you reach a main road in Pontefract - at the Castle.
My own choice of route is to turn right, and then work round the back of the castle, heading for Pontefract Monkhill Station, or through the town centre, to reach the A639, (very busy). On to Garforth
