Links to other Stones
First and foremost - you cannot carry your PC up Rombald's Moor! Use the excellent little guide "Walks Around Cup and Ring Stones", compiled by Ilkley Tourist Information Centre. It got me and my kids started - and I have used it very substantially in putting together this site. Available in White Wells, and at the Tourist Information Centre (in the Town Hall, in front of the Railway Station).
- Ilkley Community Web site - with links to all the highways and byways of the town.
- Nothing but links to on-line walking routes, maps, directions etc for the UK on Walking-Routes.co.uk.
- Two sites of useful information for the visitor to Ilkley and the Yorkshire Dales.
- The Megalith Map, in association with Aubrey Burl, a resource for finding any stone circle or row in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales.
- Rock Art: Past and Present - Durham University (inludes a good links page).
- Rombald's Moor - a message board, field notes and photographs on The Modern Antiquarian website, a massive resource for news, information, images, folklore and weblinks on the ancient sites across the UK and Ireland.
- Petroglyphs (Carved Stones!) in W Yorkshire; excellent site with some beautiful photos, and a wealth of easily digested information. Follow up his links - fascinating.
- The Swastika Stone - article with photographs attempting an interpretation, from the Online Rock Art Bulletin.
- Friends of Grampian Stones - the most densely packed region of undisturbed sacred settings remaining in Britain (I would say something like that, as I grew up in Grampian!).
