First time back to the plot for a couple of months - glorious early spring day, and a real heart-lift, even though the plot looks so unkempt.
Got one bed dug - in practically no time; what a difference to be digging soil, rather than last year's clay blocks.
Only worked a couple of hours - but so pleasant, watching the flock of long-tailed tits flutter up and down the hedge, and seeing a few brave bees venture out of Moira's hives. And dreaming, planning, getting excited!

Another couple of beds dug - quick and easy; but I'm going to have a real problem with bindweed this year, as it has taken the opportunity to spread wildly from the plot next door. I'm pulling buckets-full of root - nasty fragile stuff.
This year's resolution - cultivate half the area I attempted last year, but make sure it does well. Feeling a bit nervous that winter has been so mild - the slugs will be popping out pretty soon, thousands of them. Well that's our Easter holidays planned - two weeks of organised slug-hunt! I'm already planning tactics.
Good to see so many new plot holders this year - they've been a bit more sensible though, taking on plots which had been cultivated fairly recently.

West Yorkshire Organic Group's Potato Day in Saltaire. Look out for Brian Pitts' Victorian labels too.
