Lots of good signs on the plot - broad beans, peas, radish, leeks all through; Red Duke of Yorks thriving in the drier end of the bed, and poking through at the lower wet end; Kestrel just coming through in the lazy bed. There's just a couple of parsnips, beetroot, chard and parsley coming.
But - you could hear that coming! - the slugs have cleaned out every single brassica seedling, the carrot rows, and the lettuce; ah well, start again with those!
At least the plot seems to be drying out a little bit. Last week, the beds were just too wet to do anything but sow Halla's flower beds, the only reasonably dry bit of soil. Then we had last week's storm - astonishing amounts of rain, and even flooding here in East Leeds. And this weekend - yet more rain!
Here's hoping the weather changes - if nothing else, it's far too kind to the slug population.
