The rest of 2005
Well, the Make Poverty History bike ride was brilliant. Tough, but loads of very happy memories.
By the time I got back to the allotment though, I was just a little taken aback to see even the onions and shallots bent double with the weight of slugs on them. Not a good omen, so we left the plot for the rest of the year - hoping that the few veg which had survived would do no more than break up the soil.
We got some potatoes (Pink Fir Apples did very well), a few beetroot and a picking of broad beans - and that was it.
