Welcome to our allotment diary. And to some of the things we have learned over the last few years.
We had nearly five years on a very fertile alluvial soil on the Seacroft Hall Allotment site - until our plots were thoroughly trashed by vandals over two seasons. In 2004, we moved to Oakwood Lane Allotments; it's a lovely site, great people --- but gardeners must have their grumble! We now have much more "challenging" soil, and a tough clearing job!
We're back on track to growing enough organic vegetables to be self-sufficient for most of the year - next year's Christmas dinner is planned (I'm writing this in January). All we need now is for the vegetables, the soil and the weather to oblige!
Enjoy your visit!
Find us on Streetmap.co.uk. The allotment site runs parallel to and south of Fearnville Road, between the houses and the primary school; access by the long ginnel, shown on the map with an arrow.
